TEAM LEADER (DAY SERVICE)

Reporting to the Residential and Day Services Manager and based in
Stillorgan, Co Dublin, the Day Service Team Leader will play a pivotal
role in managing the day-to-day delivery of the ASC Day service in
Stillorgan, Co Dublin. The Day Service Team Leader will provide
leadership in the operation of the service, in line with ASC Policy,
HSE ‘New Directions’, HIQA standards and all relevant legislation.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

* To manage the day-to-day delivery of a truly person-centred service
for each Service User (Two Service Users at present)
* Relationship building and leadership of small staff team (Two
direct reports at present)
* Oversee the development and implementation of Personal Plans, in
line with ASC Policies and Procedures
* Linking with multi-disciplinary team (MDTs) where necessary and
ensure recommendations are followed through, in conjunction with staff
team
* Key working and supporting other keyworkers in their roles, as
required
* Support the organisation goals in line with the Anne Sullivan
Centre Strategic plan and the Statement of Purpose
* Liaising with the Services Manager/other Mgrs and TLs and leading
out on Day service audits, in line with ASC policies and HSE/HIQA
regulations
* Ensuring high professional standards and confidentiality at all
times

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF TEAM LEADER

SERVICE USERS

* Maintaining, through working with our two Day Service users,
trusting and supportive relationships
* Take a leadership role in driving, planning, implementation and
evaluation of Person-Centred plans
* Encourage Service User’s participation in the community through
inclusive and creative thinking, seek opportunities for new
experiences and encourage positive risk taking
* Working to ensure Service Users have socially valued roles in the
community, focussing on the development of Service User’s
independence, while placing emphasis on their social, educational and
occupational needs and wishes
* Manage and maintain appropriate links to the family of Service
Users, to ensure a positive relationship is fostered
* Take on key working duties where required
* Support and coach Key Workers and other day service staff
* Highlight specific needs of the Service users, to ensure that the
MDTs are fully advised on the health status of each, as appropriate
* Medication management/administration if required, in line with
policy and best practice
* Managing trips out in the Community and the transportation for
outings as necessary, in collaboration with Volunteer Co-ordinator,
other Key Workers and Residential Support Workers/Social Care workers

TEAM MEMBERS

* To provide leadership, coaching, supervision of the staff team,
promoting a positive workplace culture that provides learning and
growth for all
* Assist in the recruitment and selection of Support Workers, where
required
* Provide induction, training and guidance to new staff/student
placements, in all aspects of the job, in line with the ASC policy
* Create opportunities for staff to attend training and arrange
cover on the roster where appropriate
* Ensure all staff are up to date with their training, as per the
ASC mandatory training list
* Participate and deliver training to staff in line with training
plan
* Appraisal and ongoing performance reviews with SCWs/RSWs where
appropriate.
* Schedule and attend meetings regularly, taking a lead role in
effective and efficient staff meetings
* Ensure team members maintain good practice in report writing and
record keeping

IT SYSTEMS/MAINTENANCE

* Ensure that team members are trained on EPIC and that EPIC is
updated by SCWs/RSWs daily
* Regular review of all data in EPIC and ensure that incidents are
reported and highlighted to the Services Manager where relevant
* Management of the roster system Find my Shift, to ensure all
shifts are covered and to ensure that all staff are trained on using
the systems
* Recording information on _Easi tool_ and liaising/attend meetings
with the HSE on same

OTHER DUTIES

* To participate in and undertake audits, as per organisational
policy and New Directions standards/ regulations and to implement
actions as identified from audits
* Development and review of policies and procedures, in conjunction
with other staff
* Ensure that all reports, online timesheets and financial records
are accurate, completed and returned on time
* Be familiar with Health & Safety policies and procedures of ASC
and ensure that regular fire drills/fire safety audits are carried out
and recorded
* Responsible for ensuring that the safety and hygiene standards in
the Day Service are of an exceptionally high standard
* Work across the ASC services on occasions, if required.

HOURS OF WORK

The position is based in the ASC Day service in Stillorgan, Co Dublin
and is a fulltime *-hours role - Monday to
Friday.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

* QQI Level 7 qualification in Social Care or level 7 in a related
discipline
* Strong Organisational/Administrative skills
* Strong working knowledge of HIQA regulations, HSE ‘New
Directions’, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

* Ability to drive would be a distinct advantage
* Keeping up to date with implementing progressive concepts of Care
* Experience of leading a team/mentoring/coaching staff
* Experience working in a Day Service
